After your permanent teeth have come in, there may be some instances where a tooth (or teeth) needs to be extracted. These cases need to be properly diagnosed by Dr. L. C. Chilimigras—all other alternatives should be discussed when considering extraction.

Why would I need a tooth extraction?

While the reasons for extraction vary, they often include one of the following:

  • Orthodontia/cosmetic treatment preparation
  • Risk of infection
  • Infection
  • Significant tooth decay
  • Advanced periodontal (gum) disease
  • Considerable tooth trauma

In most cases, tooth extraction is our last resort in maintaining your oral health.  To prevent the need for a tooth extraction and to keep your teeth functional and healthy, remember to keep a proper oral hygiene routine at home and consistently attend your dental appointments with Dr. L. C. Chilimigras.
